Twitch signs on to stream the eLeague, TBS’ televised eSports venture
The Turner Broadcasting System and media firm WME | IMG will start broadcasting eSports on cable television next week, and Twitch has signed a multi-year deal to stream coverage of the venture on its platform.
It's an interesting partnership, as Twitch laid plans (via press release) to stream both live event coverage and provide an "alternative viewing experience" simultaneously with TBS' impending weekly Friday night showcase broadcast.
TBS and WME | IMG's eSports venture, dubbed the eLeague, kicks off next week with a ten-week Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament featuring 24 teams.
Each week matches will be broadcast on both TBS and Twitch, progressing through a six-week regular season to a series of playoffs and ending with an eLeague Global Championship at the end of July in Atlanta, Georgia. Come from Soccer 13 pools and matches
